Public Hearing on School Violence - Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations
March 16 (4:00PM)

The Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations will hold its second public hearing on school violence on March 16. The public hearings, which will be held throughout the city, are part of a comprehensive plan to examine and address intergroup violence in Philadelphia public schools. The public hearings will focus on violence motivated by race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation. Testimony will be given by students, parents, faculty, police, community members, and youth-service organizations about violence in Philadelphia’s public schools and will offer suggestions for change. Following the public hearings, the Philadelphia Commission will issue a report detailing findings and policy recommendations for the School District. Those wanting to testify should send an e-mail to Naarah’ Crawley at naarah.crawley@phila.gov or call 215-686-4674. Language interpretation services will be provided. March 16, 2010, 4pm-6pm, Myers Recreation Center, 58th Street and Kingsessing Avenue.
