Removing the Barriers - Linda Creed Breast Cancer Foundation

On Friday May 9, Linda Creed Breast Cancer Foundation’s (LCBCF) Rainbow Circle will present “Removing the Barriers: Providing Culturally Competent Healthcare to the LGBT Communities.” “Removing the Barriers” will reach out to the professionals in the medical community and through them, help to further encourage and LGBT persons to enter the health care system. The course will provide the medical community with the unique view of a LGBT person. The full-day workshop for 50-100 healthcare providers in the community is being funded by the Sapphire Fund and the American Cancer Society. The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and School of Nursing continuing education programs are participating in this project. Both entities sit on the planning committee for the workshop to assure requirements are met in order to issue the CME/CNE certificates. Marriott Hotel, 111 Crawford Avenue, West Conshohocken. H.E.A.R.T. Screening - Nazareth Hospital

H.E.A.R.T. (Helping Everyone Address Risks Today) Program screenings include: Lifestyle risk assessment; Physical fitness evaluation; Blood pressure and leg circulation measurements; and Cholesterol and blood sugar testing. After screenings are completed, registered nurses from Nazareth’s Community Outreach Department share the results with participants.
