Condom Use
Brief Introduction:
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are passed from one person to another through sexual activity. They affect more than 15 million Americans of all backgrounds and economic levels each year. If you’ve ever had sex, you could be at risk.
Protection
Condoms are the best form of protection from STDs when the penis goes into the vagina, mouth, or anus. When used correctly, condoms protect both partners by preventing contact with body fluids such as semen and vaginal juices. Using a condom correctly every time you have sex is a highly effective way of preventing pregnancy and STDs.
The right way to use a condom
The Male Condom:
1. Put the condom on before the penis touches the vagina, mouth, or anus
2. Hold the condom by the tip to squeeze out the air. Leave some space at the tip of the condom to hold the cum
3. Unroll the condom all the way over the erect penis (the penis has to be erect)
4. After sex, the man should hold the condom at the rim and pull out slowly while his penis is still erect
5. Use a new condom if you want to have sex again or if you want to have sex in a different place
The Female Condom
1. Insert the condom any time before the penis touches the vagina
2. Add lubricant to the inside of the condom
3. Squeeze the inner ring of the condom. Put the inner ring and pouch into the vagina
4. Using your finger, push the inner ring of the condom as far in the vagina as it will go. The outer ring must stay outside the vagina
5. Guide the penis into the condom
6. After sex, remove the condom before standing up. Pull the condom out gently.
