Free Eating Disorders Telephone Consultation
In recognition of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, Friends Hospital is offering a free telephone consultation to individuals who believe they are suffering from an eating disorder, and concerned family members, from Feb. 23-27 from the hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
If you think that you or a loved one might be suffering from an eating disorder, please contact the Eating Disorder Program hotline at Friends Hospital at 215-831-4719, or visit the Friends Hospital crisis center located at 4641 Roosevelt Blvd., Philadelphia, Pa.
Callers to the hotline will speak to a licensed counselor who can provide input and feedback on a recommended course of action and determine whether follow-up treatment is needed. Friends Hospital believes that by providing this free service, it can be a resource to the Greater Philadelphia region at a time when eating disorders impact an estimated 8 million Americans.
“Eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and obesity, are some of the most devastating psychological issues we see at Friends Hospital,” says Michael J. Pertschuk, M.D., Medical Director of the Eating Disorders Program at Friends Hospital. “They impact people of every race, ethnicity, sex, and age.”
