New Partnership with Wireless Philadelphia
The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, creators and sponsors of the health information website PhillyHealthInfo.org, will oversee the development of a series of “microsites” providing important health and social service resources to six vulnerable populations in the City of Philadelphia. This new partnership between the College and Wireless Philadelphia is made possible by the Pioneer Portfolio of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation which has committed $50,000 to the project.
The microsites will target six populations, including prenatal and postpartum women, behavioral health patients, youth “aging out” of foster care, and ex-offenders reentering the community. Each microsite will have a unique URL and will also reside on the PhillyHealthInfo.org site which originates at and is managed by the College of Physicians of Philadelphia.
“This is a unique opportunity to harness the Internet to fundamentally transform how low-wealth and vulnerable families access critical health care information,” said Greg Goldman, CEO of Wireless Philadelphia.
The microsites will enable Wireless Philadelphia and the College to provide much needed health information to numerous community-based organizations, including the Department of Behavioral Health, the Department of Health (Maternal and Child Health Division), Achieving Independence Centers and the Mayor’s Office for the Reentry of Ex-Offenders. Participants in these programs have received internet access and computers through WP’s Digital Inclusion program and will now be able to use this technology to access specifically-targeted health resources and information provided through PhillyHealthInfo.org.
