Blood Donation

image Every year 4.5 million American lives are saved by blood transfusions.  Because blood cannot be manufactured, a fresh supply of blood must be maintained to help patients in need.  The only way to maintain this supply is through blood donations. Unfortunately, only 5 percent of eligible people donate blood once or more in a given year. To get answers to all your blood donation questions, visit our list of Recommended Sites.

One pint of blood – the amount of blood given in one donation – can save the lives of three people!  Anyone who is at least 17 years old, in good health and weighs at least 110 pounds can donate blood every 56 days.  A blood donation is one of the easiest and most important donations a person can make.  PhillyHealthInfo.org is here to help you find blood drives and donation locations in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, or Philadelphia County. Our resource list in the blue box on the right side of the page is a good place to start.
