Colon Cancer

imageColon cancer, often called colorectal cancer, is cancer of the large intestine.  Rectal cancer is cancer of the last 8-10 inches of the colon.  Together these cancers are the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States.  Colon cancer usually begins as a small clump of tissue called a polyp.  These polyps may not produce any symptoms so it’s important to get regular screenings to make sure that you catch the disease in its earliest stages.  Changes in diet and lifestyle can also help prevent colon cancer.  Limiting fat in your diet; eating fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains; and taking a multivitamin can help reduce your risk.  To get answers to all your colon cancer questions, visit our list of Recommended Sites.
