Immunization
Immunizations, or vaccines as they are often called, help protect us from deadly diseases. Usually given by injection, vaccines not only protect us from disease, they also prevent disease outbreaks. Immunizations can be targeted for different diseases such as influenza or hepatitis. They are particularly important for those of us who may not be strong enough to fight disease on our own, including young children, older adults, and people with chronic diseases. To get answers to all your immunization questions, visit our list of Recommended Sites.
Some parents of children with autism are concerned that vaccines are the cause. To read for about these concerns, click here.
In addition to being safe and effective, vaccines can usually be obtained easily, either from a doctor or at a low cost from community health providers. PhillyHealthInfo.org is here to help you find low cost vaccines and other immunizations resources in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, or Philadelphia County. Our local health services list in the blue box on the right side of the page is a good place to start.
