Visual Impairment

imageWhen someone is visually impaired it means that their eyesight can’t be fixed with medical treatment, surgery, or corrective lenses like glasses or contacts.  In some cases, severe or total loss of vision can occur.  Loss of vision makes it hard or impossible for people to do daily tasks.  Common conditions that can lead to visual impairment, and even blindness, include cataracts, glaucoma, diabetes, and macular degeneration.  According to a study conducted by the National Eye Institute and Prevent Blindness America, 3.2% or over 185,000 Pennsylvanians over the age of 40 are affected by some form of visual impairment, including blindness.  To get answers to all your visual impairment questions, visit our list of Recommended Sites.  To get answers to all your visual impairment, visit our list of Recommended Sites
